Racial History

A long long time ago, different creatures roamed the Earth. Daemons were the dominating species, much like humans are today. These creatures were not very different than humans. A little taller perhaps, a longer life span. But the most distinguishing thing about them, was their ability to use magic. After a time, their magic began to weaken. The Gods damned the Daemons for using their magics in irresponsible ways, and in the end, wound up removing magic from all but the purest of lines. Daemons began to be born different, no magic, smaller than others, weaker than others, and they had weakened immune systems. They began losing their distinguishing features, their horns, tails, wings, markings. Everything that made them Daemons. This was how Humans came about.

The Pureblood lines of daemons used what magic they had left, to hide themselves from humanity. They moved themselves to a safe place. They continued to build themselves back up, practicing magic in a safe and proactive way. Eventually, many generations later, Daemons visited the Humans, wanting to see what had become of their home world. A few stayed behind, breeding with the humans, reintroducing magic, mostly elemental, into the world. But little did they know that they weren't the only ones.

Around the same time that the Humans began being born, Pure Blooded Seraphs descended from the heavens. Their mission was to remove all Daemons still practicing magic. To remove all Daemons teaching Humans to use magic. Many of them stayed loyal to their cause, but there were a few who fell away from their directive. These fallen Seraphs bred with both Daemons and Humans. This created Nephilim. And Seraph blood in Human veins. This reintroduced Lighter Magics, like healing.

These creatures didn't really exist until after the Seraphs were given their order to wipe the Daemons away from the world. They cast the Daemons into a lower realm, bending, twisting, and torturing their souls. The pain mixed with the magics they already harbored, twisted the Daemons into something much much darker. Slowly after the Seraphs returned to their realm, the Hellions began emerging to sniff out the weak and easily tempted souls of the Humans. They began to control them, bringing those weak Humans into the darkness with them.

Ethereals are basically Gods, at least, the Gods in charge of the different realms themselves. They usually stick to whatever realm they are placed in, and are able to create and change anything their hearts desire within those realms. These creatures are, to our knowledge, immortal. They can be wounded, they can fall ill, and they can manage to use too much power to quickly. But there has never been one that has died, at least not of natural causes.
